Do I have to go on the bus?
No, you can walk the preserve, however it approximately 5kms with gravel and uneven ground summer only.  Winter time we do not recommend guests walking due to safety reasons with weather.

Can I change my mind with what tour I want to do when I get to the preserve?
No, as we pre-book seats on the bus and have other guests to work in timing for pickups. However, there are on occasions where we can accommodate this, for example: when there is a drastic weather change, or when we have other guests that want to do the same and it works in the schedule or when it is a quieter tour day and can adjust or accommodate the schedule accordingly.

Is there a restaurant or food services available?
There are three current options for food is to either bring your own lunch/snacks, or take the short walk down the road to Bean North (situated between the Preserve and Hot Springs) or cafe at the Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs.

GENERAL WILDLIFE PRESERVE QUESTIONS
What is a preserve?
Northern animals in their natural habitats.

Is this like a zoo?
Over 700acres, no exotic animals. The animals here are in very natural habitats with great care and comfort.

Will we see bears or wolves?
These are the only two local animals you will not see. They are predators and do not make great neighbors.

Will we see all the animals?
The animals live in large natural habitats which means they do camouflage in with their surroundings. They have room to wander, find shelter or have a nap hidden from view. We cannot guarantee, however when you choose “Guided Explorer” you have a better chance with us as your ‘Guide’.

Can I pet the animals?
This preserve is not a ‘petting zoo’. There are three rules we must respect as they are wild animals and not pets:

  1. No touching the animals
  2. No feeding the animals
  3. No smoking

Are the animals loose?
No, they are not running loose. They do keep the animals safely behind fenced areas to keep both you and them safe.
