What’s included in the price?
GST is included. Appreciated tips/gratuities are not included.
Can prorate for groups of 6 or larger.
Book multiple tours and receive preferred guest pricing!

What do I need to bring?
Light jacket, camera, sturdy footwear (uneven gravel & dirt in places, AND stairs with approximately 25 steps with hand rails to assist you).

Why is this only available May – Oct?
The access road to Miles Canyon closes for the winter, and Emerald Lake freezes over in the winter, with snow piling on top.

What makes the water so green?
This is caused from the UV rays of the sun refracting off the shallow waters onto the marl beneath (marl is a mixture of clay and calcium carbonate). The Yukon mountains are rich in Limestone, when we get snow and run-off that then turns into the marl mixture and settles within the lake/river bottoms – which has been happening for thousands of years with glacial erosion.

Where is Emerald Lake?
This lake is situated on the South Klondike Highway (Hwy to Carcross & Skagway) approximately 45mins from downtown Whitehorse.

Is there any hiking involved?
No, however at Miles Canyon there are approximately 25 stairs with hand rails to assist you. At both locations there is uneven dirt/gravel/sand terrain.

Will we see wildlife?
As we are in the “Wilderness City”, wildlife sightings are not impossible. Miles Canyon there will most likely be small animals: birds, squirrels, etc. Rare chance of seeing bears there – we are always prepared with bear spray just in case. In the mornings/evenings there are chances of seeing wildlife along the highway to Emerald Lake and back. Nothing is guaranteed however.
